Questions and Answers

What sizes do the socks come in?

Tibetan Socks are sized to fit from toddlers' toes to grown up feet. Because they are knit from thick wool and lined in fleece, they are meant to be worn as a slipper sock without shoes (but can fit in some roomier boots).

If you are in between sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size.

Kids Socks

Small (fits children's sizes 5-7.5) -  Measures 5.5" heel to toe / EU Size 20-23

Medium (fits children's sizes 8-10.5) - Measures 6.5" heel to toe / EU Size 24 -27

Large (fits children's sizes 11-13.5) - Measures 7.5" heel to toe / EU size 28-31

Adult Socks

XS (fits women's sizes 5-6.5 or children's size 13-4) - Measures 8" heel to toe / EU Size 31-34

S (fits women's sizes 7-8 or boy's 4.5 - 6) - Measures 9" heel to toe / EU Size 35 - 37

M (fits women's sizes 8.5-10 or men's 6.5-8) - Measures 10" heel to toe / EU size 38 - 40

L (fits women's sizes 10.5-12 or men's 8.5-10.5) - Measures 10.5" heel to toe / EU 41 - 43

How do I wash the socks?

We recommend machine wash cold settings with a fabric cleaner like Woollte then lay flat to dry.

Where do the socks come from?

Tibetan Socks are sourced from refugee Tibetan communities in the mountains of India and Nepal. They are hand woven by women in villages, which provides supplemental income for their families and allows them to stay home with their children.

Can I wear my Tibetan Socks with shoes?

Because the socks are knit from heavy wool and lined in fleece, they are more like a slipper and too bulky for most tight shoe and sneaker styles. They add approximately another full shoe size to your foot.

How much goes to charity?

Approximately 15% of each order is donated to charity. When we created Tibetan Socks, it was our mission to make giving central to our business. For each pair of socks sold, we are able to provide:

-12 school lunches in partnership with TRAS / Sikkim Lunch Program.

-2 weeks of lodging and food in a monastery school with ROKPA.

-Food, medicine, books and supplies to the women and children at Maiti Nepal.
